Dodger Blue Meets Takashi Murakami’s Floral Bloom in Tokyo Series Collab with Complex and Fanatics

Takashi Murakami, known for his iconic floral art and vibrant pop aesthetic, has joined forces with Fanatics and Complex to create a unique MLB collection celebrating the Tokyo Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs. This collaboration seamlessly blends Murakami’s colorful motifs with classic sportswear, creating a fusion of art and baseball culture that resonates with fans on both sides of the Pacific.

The limited edition collection includes an array of exclusive merchandise, from Nike MLB t-shirts and hoodies to official Nike Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs MLB Limited jerseys. Each piece features Murakami’s signature floral artwork, adding a playful and colorful twist to traditional team apparel. The collection also spotlights individual player jerseys for Dodgers stars Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman, as well as Cubs players Shota Imanaga, Seiya Suzuki, and Dansby Swanson. Additional items include New Era 59FIFTY caps, Rawlings baseballs and gloves, Victus bats, tote bags, keychains, and Complex-exclusive Ohana Hatake slides.

One of the most sought-after items in the collection was the Topps x Murakami MLB Tokyo Series Matchup Set, featuring 25 trading cards with Murakami’s unmistakable artistic touch. The set’s highlight was a one-of-one dual-autograph card signed by Murakami and Shohei Ohtani. The chance to pull these rare cards made this set sell out almost immediately. Fans scrambled to secure these collectibles, making the Topps cards one of the first items to disappear from shelves.

To celebrate the collaboration, Complex and Fanatics hosted a three-day pop-up event at Complex’s flagship space in Los Angeles from March 7 through March 9. The turnout was overwhelming, with fans lining up early and waiting in long queues that stretched out the door and down the block. The dedication was undeniable, with people showing up throughout the weekend, eager to get their hands on exclusive Murakami x MLB pieces before they sold out. Los Angeles, known for its passionate and devoted Dodgers fanbase, truly showed out for this event.

It was clear that Dodger fans take their love for the team and their culture seriously. The lines weren’t just for the merchandise — they were a testament to how deep the connection runs between LA and its Dodgers. In Tokyo, the main pop-up runs from March 8 through March 21, with select items available at the MLB Shop Tokyo Dome from March 14 to March 19 at Prism Hall (Tokyo Dome City, 112-0004) and at the MLB Shop Miyashita Park from March 6 to March 23 (6 Chome-20-10 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo 150-0001).

The 2025 Tokyo Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs is set to be an epic showdown, bringing MLB action back to Japan for another unforgettable experience. Hosted at the iconic Tokyo Dome, the series will once again bridge the gap between American and Japanese baseball culture, drawing fans from all over the globe to witness the clash between these two historic franchises. The energy in the stadium is expected to be electric, especially with superstar players returning to their home country to showcase their talents on familiar turf.

Fans are already buzzing with excitement, especially given the success of last year’s series and the enthusiasm surrounding the upcoming matchups. With both teams expected to bring their A-game, the 2025 exhibition promises to deliver high-octane action, unforgettable moments, and a celebration of the global reach of baseball. This event is sure to be one of the most memorable highlights of the MLB season for die-hard fans and those just going along during the season for the thrill of the game.

This project between Murakami, Fanatics, and Complex is a true celebration of both art and baseball, blending the worlds of sports and creativity in a way that feels uniquely global.
